On Tuesday night I had the honor of attending the Aesthetic TV Hollywood Mixer at the Sofitel Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. The exclusive networking event brought together top aesthetic physicians and celebrated the wrap party for the Aesthetic TV segments shot in Las Vegas at THE Aesthetic Show which took place earlier this year. As a plastic surgeon, I always love to hear feedback from patients about how they liked the results of their procedure or how they enjoyed their time at Lift MD Aesthetics. The Emmy Awards are this coming Sunday and stars often spend weeks and even months getting ready for such important high profile events. Celebrity stylist, Lucy Samuelian, is a patient who helps get those stars ready and looking good. I often get asked for my opinion on recommendations for skin perfecting procedures. My wife and I were invited to see the preview runway show of the new swimwear line, “Have Faith Swimergie” at Kyle by Alene Too in Beverly Hills! The collection was designed by Lilly Ghalichi of the hit Bravo show, “The Shahs of Sunset” and Jennifer Stano-David.
Dr. Garo Kassabian was selected to be a judge amongst an esteemed panel of colleagues, including Dr. David Matlock, at the 2013 THE Aesthetic Show Awards. Dr. Kassabian evaluated and voted on other surgeon’s work and also presented an award. The memorable awards show evening was held at The Mirage Resort and Casino and hosted by Dr. Andrew Ordon of The Doctors Show and Candis Cayne.

3) Arms
For those who are concerned about excess skin on their arms, a brachioplasty or arm lift is your best option. A small incision is made on the under side of your arm. From there the tissue is tightened and reshaped, resulting in a more defined and toned arm.

4) Liposculpture, Tummy Tuck, Extended Tummy Tuck or Body Lift.
For excess loose skin on the lower body, several procedures performed are intended to remove excess body skin and fatty tissue. In the area of the back and belly (the trunk), cases of mild excess maybe treated appropriately by procedures such as a tummy tuck or liposuction. For more extreme cases, there are more surgical options that can be discussed.

5) Thigh Lift
Similar to an arm lift, a thigh lift targets the upper leg area to reduce the amount of excess skin that creates a drooping look.
How long do these procedures generally take?
Each procedure varies in length. From 15 minutes for a “Liquid Facelift” to several hours for more extensive surgeries. Once you discuss your options with your doctor, the procedure length will become clear.

What is the recovery process for these procedures?
Recovery period for surgical procedures average at around 1-2 weeks. Non-invasive procedure like injectables involve nearly no downtime.

More and more we see celebrities and reality stars debuting more proportionate facial features that seem to balance overall features and create a more proportional look. How are they doing this? In the recent Bravo reality series, Vanderpump Rules, lead character Stassi Schroeder reveals she received a chin implant as a high school graduation present. Attributing her modeling jobs and recent success to her more defined chin, which helped her face appear more defined and not as round. Other celebrity figures that have reportedly had similar procedures to enhance their looks include Kim Kardashian, Bristol Palin and Ashlee Simpson.

Researchers and experts alike say that patients are oftentimes more satisfied with their results if they also receive a chin implant when they undergo rhinoplasty. The reason why? Many people don’t understand the affect changing one element of their face will have on the overall balance of their entire look. An expert surgeon will know how to make these two distinct facial features proportionate creating a more natural looking facial structure. In many cases, however, a chin implant can be performed on it’s own to complement the patients existing features.
